Why is the Platypus?

By virtue of this pretty insightful post on how to keep men happy, which I’ll be quite happy to point out to my female friends, a new blog quite happily appears here – Platypus (full name is Why is the Platypus? and I’m wondering if there shouldn’t be any sort of control on the naming of blogs).

Anyway, I like the style of writing although I’m a little apprehensive of the Gweilo Diaries style of posting up of pictures (down to the Girl Friday references!). Of course, with the handful of posts I have actually read of this blog, it’s clear that this blogger can actually write an interesting post. A skill I’m quite sure I haven’t got and one that I’m reasonably sure that William… sorry, Conrad… over at GD doesn’t have. Yep, I was suffering from GD-bashing withdrawal symptoms.

So welcome to the Platypus… and perhaps he can answer Why is the Platypus?

Cleaning House

Yes, some blogs have disappeared from the main page. These are:

Flying Yangban
Pornetry
Sushicam
Wires

Pornetry is no longer being maintained by its author.

Sushicam is still featured in the Images Section because of the quality of photography.

Sushicam and Flying Yangban are being removed from the main page because of their political views. Which happen to be Republican. I’m all for free speech but if you want to find out about Republican ideals and policies, do a Google search for them. I’m not all that excited about facilitating easier access to Bush’s agenda. They are still listed in the Link Repository because they are still good blogs.

Wire is not being updated either. If it is in the future, I’ll consider adding it again to the list.

It’s nothing personal, in case people take offense at these reasons, it’s just that I do have to trim down the number of sites I do think are worthwhile.

Brenda, Daniel, Wanbro and Chase Me Ladies

Oh boy… a couple of new links for you all to perv on. Well…blogs at least.

Two friends are running their own blogs now – Brenda and Daniel. Not much to say about them except ones a HK gal and one’s a friend who recently departed from HK back for Germany.

The other two are Wanbro and Chase Me Ladies. They ain’t new blogs, but I’m a little slow on the uptake. A link to my own glorious site usually gets me to link up to sites as a matter of courtesy. Wanbro is now a China based blog and is living the student dream again. Chase Me Ladies has recently gained world fame by reaching No. 4 in the Google rankings for the search term “the British National Party”.

Bohemian Philosophy

New blog from a Malaysian gal who grew up in Singapore and is now in Australia – Bohemian Philosophy.

Almost as complicated as myself.

Looks like a lefty tree-hugger with her anti-McD McSpotlight link, and Noam Chomsky and Michael Moore reading list.

But hey, we like left, trees and huggers over here.

Discombobulated

And another mutal link to add… seems this month I’m not doing a good job of staying off the radar. You would have thought that my long posts would have dissuaded most of you.

Anyway…this time it’s Discombobulated. Not sure about the word? According to the blogger who goes by the name, it means “To be thrown into a state of confusion. A state that I have found myself in rather often over the last few years.” Thankfully for us, she shares her confusion with us in a less discombobulated way. What a word.

Note: Yep, the link whoring will continue. But rest assured, trusted readers, Eshin Direct will never link itself to Gweilo Diaries. Unless it’s to point out one of Conrad’s numerous inaccuracies.
