Star World, which is about to crossover into Now Broadband, is busy advertising Miss World 2005. Of course, it’s shots from last years Miss World but it gave me the opportunity to spy out last year’s Miss China – Jin Yang. Okay, so she’s not the prettiest gal I’ve seen from China but it’s that voice of hers when she says “Vote for me”. It just has this appeal to it…
I think I saw an interview with her on TV the other night. They had footage of a debate thing she took part in at university. All in Chinese, so had no idea what she was saying. But she seemed to be running circles around her opponents. I’m sure what she was saying was intelligent, and had nothing about being the most vocal, I’m sure.
Nothing wrong with that with a voice like hers.
I’ve succumbed to the Western temptation and posted up Joey Yung (容祖兒) in the Asian Babes category. I still think she has something that makes her sexy, at least to my Western eyes. My local friends tell me that her look is very common and you find plenty of girls that look like her in Hong Kong. I’ve been here now for three years and I can only say I’ve met one girl that possibly has her look. I did have the privilege of walking past her in the street and must say that the lovely lass is tiny.
Solid songwriters and catchy melodies have made Joey the Canto-pop star that she is in Hong Kong, while she hasn’t yet overstretched her hand in the acting department. A woman of controversy in her private life and career, my arrival in Hong Kong was marked by her police questioning in relation to an attack on a local DJ. Nevertheless, she is a popular both with expats as eye candy and to locals because of her talent.
Michelle Reis Lee Ka-Yan (李嘉欣) is the latest addition to the Asian Babes gallery. A Miss Hong Kong winner in 1988, she’s gone on to do the rounds on the Hong Kong celebrity circuit. She has starred in a number of local and international films, and enjoys the revenue from endorsing several luxury brands.
Personally, she’s here because I think she’s hot in an “on-the-nose” sort of way. Guess you can’t be a saint about your fantasies all the time.
Taiwanese seems to be on the menu. I’ve always appreciated this Taiwanese genetics that seem to pump out these almost doll-like women. I’m sure they are cheating with plenty of grooming and liberal use of cosmetics and health supplements, but hey, appreciating the aesthetic isn’t all bad.
What’s caught me eye this time around? Patty Ho. She’s one of the hottest presenters on Azio TV and pretty much anywhere. (Fumier can keep his Eve Lam). When she isn’t presenting her daily dose of chirpy personality through Azio TV, she’s also gracing the news herself. Earlier this summer, it was reported that she was having an affair the son of prominent politician which caused a sensation in the Taiwanese papers.
Personally, I couldn’t care less. What’s good about her? Well…it’s that ability to smile with her eyes more than anything else.
