I must say that I was pleasantly surprised today when I went into Starbuck’s for my lunch time Caramel Frappuccino. As I approached the counter, the manager called out my regular order although I had to correct her on the size as I needed an extra jolt after these last few days1. I was pretty impressed that she remembered me order although I’m sure if she keeps doing that I’m not going to sample the rest of the other 86,999 combinations2. But it is nice when people do service right – recognizing my regular order, and without prompting, offered me a free drink for a delay that really wasn’t that bad. It’s refreshing, especially here.

    What impressed me even more was that when I went to pay her colleague, and fumbled around with my coins, she actually cancelled the payment order and essentially gave me a free drink. She said it was by way of apologizing for yesterday’s delay in getting my order. Would you believe? The day before was definitely a little slow but didn’t really bother me that much ((I was in unusual distracted mood at the time. Still am… []
