October 5, 2008 Transitions
I am in a state of transition at the moment. This past week has seen me leave my old job at the events company I used to work for in Hong Kong. I’m leaving behind some people I genuinely enjoyed working with1 and some that I would rather not work with again immediately in the future or beyond. It’s all water under the bridge though as they say.
So where am I heading off to?
Although probably not the best industry to join right now, I am now joining the heady world of the finance sector albeit working in their marketing department. This is my first real chance to work on a brand and actually make it my own and its also a great opportunity to work with a boss that I respect.
Although I’d love to disclose this on my blog, unfortunately I won’t be doing that since my new company has it quite clearly in black and white that my own personal code of conduct doesn’t embarrass it in any way2. Even more so for myself since I will be working on the branding elements for the brand.
This, no doubt, will lead to even more self-censorship of what I do post online about my personal life and my own personal opinions3. It’s my first time working for a financial institution so I am expecting limits on MSN and the like, so expect less frequent posts but hopefully I can make up on that with quality4.
I am nervous about starting at my new company but as some clever person somewhere said at some point, how exciting is life without any challenges?
- Devilite has a nice professional obituary for me on his own blog [↩]
- Although I am sure that those people monitoring (vs. reading) this blog will have no problem eventually digging that out. [↩]
- Beyond the current limitations of what I’ve blog about. Yeah, you know what I mean [↩]
- Those of you previously enjoying my all too frequent posts have to realize that 1 months notice certainly gives you some time to do brainless things. [↩]
