September 23, 2008 Succumbing to the Nikon D90

Following rumours that the Nikon D90 Digital SLR was finally in stores in Singapore, I decided I needed to see it for myself at Cathay Photo Store at Marina Square. I was only supposed to look and think about it but succumbed when I actually held it in my hand. Well, I haven’t had any significant purchases for a while and I suppose I needed to treat myself to something for landing a new job.
Online indications seemed to price the D90 at $1888 while I hear the suggested retail price is $1999. Cathay Photo had it at $1750 including GST. I briefly looked at the D60 as it was significantly cheaper at about $888 (I think) but comparing the two side by side, holding each one, it was definitely the D90.
Now I just have to wait 8 hours for the battery to fully charge. Another 24 hours before I can come home and play with my new toy. Oh, it’s just like Christmas.

Lol did you really think you’d be able to resist?
So congrats, looking forward to seeing your masterpieces on flickr.

Yeah, I naively did think I would be able to resist.
In all fairness, I did pick up the D60 but it was just too small and seemed so basic (which I know isn’t the case but it’s a matter of perception).
I’ll try it out this week after work. Unfortunately, I don’t have the luxury of being able to walk around during the day time on school nights.
