Goodbye, my grandfather.

You hung in there longer than they predicted with that tenacity and cheerfulness that made you my grandfather. Your irascible laughter and sense of humour is what I’ll take forward with me and through that you’ll always live on forever. When you get to Heaven be sure to have a dubbeltje in your pocket and remember to tell God what a great “grapper-maker” you were. Remember not to drink the water because even in Heaven, the fish still wash their arses in it.
