June 15, 2005 Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith
Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith is better the second time round. I guess when you watch for the first time, you’re expecting something huge and monumental, driving up the expectations, only to be let down by crap dialogue along the lines of “love is flowing river” crap. But once you’ve overcome the trauma of realizing you are 28 year old watching a children’s film, it becomes more bearable.
Actually, the second time round, you appreciate the subtle nuances that are present in Episode III like the quick shot of a YT-1300 freighter (that’s Millenium Falcon to you and me folks). No doubt the DVD will reveal more subtle points. One for the fans, this one. Anyway, to keep you all amused, here’s a nice little cartoon that sums it all up…

I still haven’t seen it all the way through – bloody power cut in the West End an hour in when I was there! From what I saw I have to agree – the dialogue was awful. The VFX did, however, surpass expectations.
What I want to know is how they managed to make the bona fide hottie that is Ms Portman so unnappealing?

Well, I guess Ms. Portman perhaps made herself unappealing in order to not create such an “iconic” character for herself, so as to be asssociated with it for the next thirty years of her career.

Nah, she already did that in Leon.
