I can’t help feeling excited about the new OS X Tiger release from Apple. It’s like 1995 all over again. Except it isn’t Microsoft. But of course, back then I didn’t know how evil Microsoft was, what with its plans for world domination and all. Perhaps, the way of the Mac? Who knows…

What’s exciting about the new system? The biggest thing in Tiger is the Smart Folders technology. It enables you to set up rules and criteria a la Smart Playlists in iTunes. This means you can get all your files in one place almost instantly. This technology looks like its ported to the Address book where you can put together Smart groups.

The Dashboard looks like it’s got improved information functionality too – Flight Tracker, Stock Ticker, Weather, multiple Time Zones display. Now, an RSS ticker would be a great addition but not sure if they have that.

And now I can use my bluetooth headset to chit chat with folks on the phone. Great for going in autolisten mode and continue working at the same time. “Yeah, uh-huh, okay, cool, yeah,..really?”

Take a gander at the Apple Tiger Feature List for a more comprehensive explanation of the additions.
