Much that I’m a fan of the average Hong Kong girl, I must say that I miss being down in Singapore where the girls seem more willing to show a little more leg than what we’re used to up here in Hong Kong, even at the height of summer. I guess also that the Chinese, Malay, Indian and no doubt some Caucasian influences have helped to breed a superiorly structured leg that helps put me firmly in “I’m a leg man” camp.

Although presenting a nice visual package, I’d be a little wary of dating a Singaporean gal. While I have no experience of such, the SG gals that I’ve had the pleasure of knowing all seem to have a certain bite to them. Not to say that I’m for the traditional male role or submissive female role, but in a dating context, I’m sure they would all sway towards the high on the maintenance scale.

Interestingly enough, I asked my Singaporean friend about what its like dating a Singaporean gal. Obviously, he seemed less enamoured with their charms than me, a humble visiting lech. High maintenance, he said, emotionally, physically, economically and spiritually. Well, something like that. To sum it up, he said he had to engage in a lot of bullshit, meaningless conversation and ensure that they were convinced that you believed that they were the centre of your world.

Funny thing is that my girlfriend says the same thing almost about HK gals. She can’t understand why any self-respecting man would even consider prancing around TST, Mongkok, wherever, carrying the lady’s handbag. I suspect that many guys are part of this slow attrition of our own manhood, morphing ourselves into the metrosexual monstrosity that women say they want.

If that were true, why does it seem to be a common mindset amongst women in HK that they’re stuck in a relationship that they bitch about their boyfriends and are just waiting for someone better to come along? Attached but looking. Married but available (MBA).

Actually, the guys I know that have a steady stream of girlfriends on tap, are the ones that treat their girlfriends like crap. Well, not entirely like crap, but at least haven’t betrayed themselves to this metrosexual garbage that the media, advertising, and supposedly women’s desires would have us believe are the ways to attract a girl.
