February 23, 2005 Cold Front
After two biting cold days in Hong Kong, it is nice and sunny now. It seems like winter just gave a last spiteful freeze before dying out for this year. Of course, fate usually reminds me who’s the boss and will probably teach me a lesson by making the next few days colder than a Siberian gulag.
Talking of Siberian gulags, that place in LKF with the chilled ice room where you can drink vodka was a novel experience. Heard about it last summer, and yours truly being at the bleeding edge of cool, only went there last night. I suppose it made more sense going there when it was winter time since you are already warmly wrapped up. During summer, you’re likely to be wearing those hardly anything at all, especially expats who I suspect only wear the lightest of clothing purely for decency.
Me and cold don’t mix, so I went inside for about two minutes just to take photos with the two girls I was with. They were nicely wrapped up in furs courtesy of the restaurant and looked like two eskimo chicks. Or perhaps two Kazak beauties? The funny thing was that they knocked back about five shots each inside and it was only when they came out of the overgrown fridge, that they began to feel the buzz quite quickly. Useful to know if you want to introduce a girl to the joys of shooting vodka, with perhaps the most comprehensive selection in HK, and for her to pretty much get drunk in an instant when she begins to warm up.
Of course, you wouldn’t catch me engaging in such underhanded tactics. Of course, you probably wouldn’t catch me drinking vodka full stop. My days of drinking straight Stolychnaya are over… and that was only to impress my Russian ex-gf who perhaps was less impressed with my consequential drunken displays of idiocy.

That sounds great! What is LKF though? Jonny Nash went to the Ice Hotel in Sweden before Xmas and drank vodka in a frozen bar, using ice shot glasses!

LKF is an abbreviation of Lan Kwai Fong. I think I took you there when you were here.
Same principle as the Ice Hotel but without ice furniture or ice shot glasses.

Thanks for that tip! I’ll remember to chill my room to just above zero and serve vodka next time I’m entertaining…;)

It’s the subsequent knees in private places I’m more worried about…

I have always been a fan of ladies in the cold. Pert and at attention reign supreme. If you can hang your coat…
