Bye Bye Gweilo Diaries

The Gweilo Diaries looks like it is out for the count as the domain name has been bought by a domain prospector. Good riddance. Let’s hope the cockroach stays dead.

Don’t tell me: you’re so happy about Connie packing up that you’re going to leave this post on top for ever.

Yes, indeed. The thought did cross my mind. Afterall, my mission is accomplished.

So were you the one hounding him out as that’s one of the reasons he quit blogging….

Although I checked his DNS info and there’s a tel number and address in Happy Valley…

Good question - were you the one trying to track him down - just interested to know…

You people evidently think I have too much time on my hands. No, I wasn’t the one who tracked him down. Rather surprisingly, I have a life and chasing down arrogant, lecherous marine reservists is not part of that.

My comment about “mission accomplished” was my attempt at wit and humour. Although I must admit I was looking forward to the day that Conrad would be brought down, the only way I can have contributed to that is by blogging, which, to say the least is not much. With Conrad’s demise, mission was accomplished. Was I the one to track him down and affect his personal life when he chooses to blog anonymously? No.

My thoughts on blogging anonymously are that I personally wouldn’t do it. I know for some it is a necessity and for some it’s a matter of cowardice. For Conrad, I always thought the crap he was spewing and various other posts made it a matter of cowardice on his part. So much for the brave marine reservist. It’s easy to send out controversial opinions hiding behind a cover. If he had the conviction of belief in what he said and did online, why was it all taken down when someone at work might find out who he was?

I personally feel that if I declare something or put something out into the public domain, I need to be able to stand behind that personally and publically. If I’m ashamed to say it in person to people than why send it out there in public on a blog?

Maybe I don’t want people to read my blog but at the end of the day, that is what happens. At the end of the day, I’ve said those things as a matter of quasi-public record. It’s not entirely me, but it is a part of me. If it affects me professionally, then perhaps a degree of professionalism is needed on the reader. If it affects me personally, then perhaps you won’t like me anyway because it is a part of me.

As regards to respecting Conrad’s privacy, I only use information he himself puts up there. To be able to track him down, even if I wanted to, would mean I have access to resources, contacts, and networks that are much grander than I have access to. For a pathetic lecherous US reservist expat, that all seems too much of waste of time for me. He simply wasn’t that important.

    Well said, Eshin.

Courage of your convictions… Hmm, well I think you’re right. Why don’t you say it to Conrad’s face, or better yet, mine?

I’m sure if you’re brave enough to stand up for your convictions then you’ll not only provide your name, but also your location to all the fine denizens of the blogosphere.

Or you can just reply in whatever smarmy manner that would make you feel like you won the exchange. Feel free, hypocrite.

Evidently Conrad took the one brain cell that he shared with his fan base.

My details, if you had bothered to check, are out there for all to see. If you aren’t smart enough to have worked it out, then it is not my problem.

Perhaps you would oblige me with your details?

Funny: it took me about 5 seconds to find out Eshin’s full name, address and mobile phone number.

I tried searching for Marduk, and you’re either a Babylonian deity or a swedish black metal band (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marduk), neither of which would appear to be right-wing American conservatives.

    Hypocrite.

    Well said, Dave.

It’s always been on my site, and with basic Internet knowledge, it can also be determined.
