January 1, 2005 Happy New Year
So… Happy New Year everyone. All in all, it was a good NY celebration and it gave me a chance to get back in touch with my family, including my brother and sister who I hadn’t seen for some years. My ever competitive uncle suceeded in making sure that everyone knew who exactly was the boss in this game called shule which involves trying to get these wooden puck-like things into four slots at the end of a runway. I’m not sure if it is just a Dutch game, but it’s quite old-fashioned. I’ll post up the pictures when I’ve developed them. I did manage to beat him at table football which was rather satisfying.
Fireworks are all the rage over here over NY. Kids get to launch their fireworks in the days leading up to the NY eve, which mainly consist of bangers. Of course, they let loose on NY eve and my nephew nearly damn well killed me with one of the fireworks in his arsenal. Of course, luck intervened and you remain at the mercy of my inane banter online.
Crap…about to collapse with tiredness. I’ve gotten lazy with my Dutch and so listening to it constantly going on is tiring, especially when I have dialogues in half-Dutch and half-English, kind of making a “Dinglish” similar to Chinglish.
