Christmas Tony
Watching Tony Blair visit the troops in Iraq was both praiseworthy and comical. Praiseworthy in that he bloody well should given that he sent them there for his own aggrandisement and love of George Bush. Comical in that during the press conference that he gave and offered yet another explanation of the need to go to war, he sounded more like a petulant sixth former trying to debate the losing argument.
For him to think that he will make an iotas worth of difference in the Middle East peace process between the Israelis and Palestinians is laughable. He can’t even sort out the Northern Ireland peace process in his own backyard so what makes him think that he has any degree of credibility as a peacebroker remains yet another mystery in the mind of Blair.
On a side note, I find it amusing that David Blunkett resigns over a visa issue that he forced through on behalf of his lover’s nanny, yet over in the States, Donald Rumsfeld still retains his post despite his actions contributing to the diminished security of his own troops. Guess it’s not all that funny if you think about it. Quite tragic really.
