October 5, 2004 What Link?
Ummm…I’m just a little hazy on the truth.
We went to war because there was a clear threat of state-sponsored terrorism and that there was evident link between the big bad Bin Laden and slippery Saddam Hussein.
But apparently, I was mistaken. Even Rumsfeld says so in a recent Q&A session – “To my knowledge, I have not seen any strong, hard evidence that links the two,” Rumsfeld added.
And of course, I trust everything that comes forth from ol’Rumsy.
Apparently, the Bush administration has reached a new level of Nazism. They can quite happily ignore the truth, admit it and carry on as before. I’m still waiting for that resignation over Abu Ghraib, Mr. Rumsfeld. You owe the world that much at least.

If the Bush administration continue using the “intelligence” excuse like they used for Afghanistan, Iraq, Osama, Saddam, Al-Qaeda, JI etc, it will only corrupt the credibility and sideline the genuine intelligence reports that come through.

This argument is part of the great conspiracy theory surrounding democracy and transparency.
Provide too much information so that you can bury the truth with it. Then no-one’s interested in the truth anymore but rather enjoys the feeling that there is plenty of information out there to back up their emotional beliefs.
I think partly the reason why the US is now so bitterly divided between Republican and Democrat is because the Internet really does provide too much information. It’s easy to get entrenched into a point of view and to find some information that backs you up to a certain extent.

[...] Anyone who watched the Vice Presidential debate will have been confused by Cheney’s allegations that there was a link between Saddam and al-Qaeda. There wasn’t a link between al-Qaeda and Saddam. And this time I don’t need to quote some lefty tree-hugger to back up my statement. I’ve got Rumsfeld on my side. [...]
