August 21, 2004 Thank You Tony
The Americans should be grateful to Tony Blair for supporting a war that is questionable. But how do you thank a man that is so busy pandering to his US boss and avoiding domestic issues that he promised to deal with? It’s okay, now it’s possible to thank him online with a nifty website called, named rather unimaginatively ThankYouTony.com. It’s a serious site, so none of you left whinger peace-nik treehuggers go out there and ’cause any trouble, y’all hear?
The author of the site claims the reason for the site is that “When the call came to stand and be counted, the United Kingdom came to our side.”. Oh yes, indeed it did. But when the IRA bombs were going off in London and Northern Ireland, and pesky Catholic insurgents were kidnapping and executing “English collaborators”, some of your population went off on fund raising binges for the IRA.
One of the posters even had the audicity to say “Dear Prime Minister, and to all the Brits “who get it:”‘. When I think about it, I don’t think 90% of your population got the whole Northern Ireland thing in the first place. Guess you folks were lucky that the Brits weren’t as stupid. I guess the Brits have been getting it since they had to deal with those pesky insurgent colonials in the New World who didn’t have the audicity to fight out in the open in regimented rank and file.
But you do have to respect Tony. When he leaves office, hopefully sooner rather than later, he’s set to make a killing on the US after-dinner speaker circuit. And for once, he’ll probably be making more than his wife does. What foresight Tony, what foresight indeed.
