What ever happened to SARS?
It would seem that I am in conspiracy mode today. All the talk about the numbers for Hong Kong’s pro-democracy rally this year and last year have left me wondering about the whole SARS thing again. It’s curious that this SARS virus seemed to capture the attention of the media who promptly whipped the Asian populations up into a paranoia.
Statistically, the death toll and infection rates weren’t really all that alarming given that there’s stuff out there that infects and kills much quicker out there. Oh, and the argument that it was a new unknown virus out there with no cure doesn’t wash with me. SARS has joined the multitude of crap out there that kills us with no explanation or any possible cure out there. Sure it was bad, but why was there such hysteria over it?
Now, here comes the conspiracy part of it all. I just find it a little curious that this whole SARS thing came just as the bombs started to fall on top of Baghdad. Okay, it’s a way off base sort of accusation but the decline in air travel had to benefit someone. It sort of makes the whole numbers game manageable in terms of passenger screening and monitoring.`
Yes, I am that paranoid.
seriously SARS was bullshit. it never existed.
The Man Himself
Of course. A classic example of media hype.
