July 1, 2004 Netherlands Might Have Played
So sad. Guess we are out. Oh well, it means I no longer have to stay up at these ridiculous hours. It seems to be the fate of my teams that they are doomed to have goals disallowed but in this case, a goal by van Nistelrooi was correctly disallowed for being offside. Again, some dodgy calls by the officials. Although I did applaud them for yellow carding that twat Ronaldo. Taking his shirt off and all. This is a family game, you stupid prick.
Thanks to Andrade for the own goal. It was enough to lift my spirits up for a short time. Ricardo should be shot for a) being a cocky shite b) his wonderful play acting to waste time in the last quarter of the game.
I’m rapidly coming to the conclusion that this commentator might be onto the truth about international matches. Guess the Portugese must need a boost of funds into their football education or something. Oh wait, being one of the poorest countries in Europe, maybe they don’t have any funds. Hmm…would a Portugese final maybe boost an injection of funds from tourism and celebratory circulation of funds help? Too cynical, I am, but suspicious must be (Yoda voice).
Anyway, I’m so depressed not even the Euro A-Go-Go Girls doing a funny Sixties dance cheered me up enough to smile.

Not sad at all. I couldn’t face the humiliation of being beaten by Greece in the finals.

HELLAS!!!!!!
OK that was the greatest night in football history. Just come back from Southgate. Thousands and thousands of greeks swarming everywhere. Flags, horns, whistles, passion, joy. Everything was amazing. For a people that have been subdued and downcast for centuries it was an outpouring on epic scale.
Tonight I am more proud to be Greek than ever. And thanks to the Portugese for being such great hosts.
