Oh this is too funny. Some internet hoax convinced a bunch of muslims from the Netherlands to go visit a hospital in Germany because they thought there was a woman who was breast feeding the Messiah.
Although there is the funny side, I just recall the song by Joan Osborne titled “If God was one of us?” and the film “Frailty” with Matthew McCaugnhey and Bill Paxton, where God had decided to give someone a list and a warrant to go kill apparent demons.

I know you’ve all missed my Gweilo Diaries bashing. I know I’ve missed it. Yes, yes, you are probably all telling me to give it a rest and put this grudge to bed. Call it my cruel vindictive nature.
I always wondered where William’s stupidity originated from. I finally think I have the answer. It stems from him having served in the US military. Giving a critique on Michael Moore’s latest film Farenheit 9/11, he has this to say about the ethnic diversity of enlisted men.
“Furthermore, plenty of the sons of the middle class and affluent serve in uniform — as did I — and they too have laid down their lives in Iraq.”
One almost wishes he had put the “as did I” in a more appropriate place at the end of the sentence. But hell, it goes a long way to explain some of the crap he spews forth. You can’t be too smart if you belong to an organisation that shoots down it’s allies’ aircraft.
On a side note, it’s surprising how often “donning the uniform” evokes a feeling that you should respect it. Yes, I have the utmost respect for those who fight and die for me (or even just willing to lay down their lives for my security) but I think recent incidents in Abu Ghraib should be a lesson that just serving in uniform doesn’t necessarily make you worthy of the high ideals that a soldier must embody. For all we know, you could have spent your tour of duty doing anything from sweeping the floor to breaking numerous Geneva conventions.

Okay, so I couldn’t resist posting up a picture of Rosanne Wong Yuen Kwan. I usually limit myself to posting up one picture of a star that I find beautiful or appealing (my psychiatrist says it’s more healthy and the court order dictates so). Anyway, technically, this isn’t double posting as previously I only included the lovely Rosanne Wong under the posting of 2R. This counts as the first single entry.
Anyway, enough talk.

Bugger…just heard that it can take up to ten years for your lungs to clear up after you quit smoking. That’s assuming that you don’t have cancer. That’s a cheery thought. Almost two months without a smoke.

Phil over at Flying Chair got himself attacked by a thug. It’s evident he still had adrenaline pumping through his body when he wrote the post.
He seems to blame the incident on the guy being an expat. While I agree with his statement that a lot of expats in Hong Kong behave like pricks, doing things they otherwise never would at home, his outburst might not be justified. Anyone can be a prick, expat or not. But then again, the only fight I’ve had in HK was with an expat.
Anyway, to Phil, whose site is experience tech difficulties and whose site I otherwise would have posted a comment to, hope you are alright. It could have been worse physically and it seems your pride might have been the only thing to take take a beating. And remember, real men call themselves Basher.
