May 9, 2004 Quitting Smoking
I’ve made this arrangement with my friend Brenda last night to stop smoking for 6 months. It’s part of this whole thing where my cholesterol level is too high for my age group/physique etc. So along with dietary changes, some changes in lifestyle will also have to take place. I reckon quitting smoking might be a good start.
Anyway, I’ve given myself a 6 month time frame to work from where I can either continue to not smoke or continue to smoke. The penalty? Every time I smoke a cigarette, I have to buy my friend Brenda a drink. So from Saturday 15th May, it’s going to be smoke free.
I’ve done it before for six months and I can probably do it again. It’s high time I made an impact on this since I’ve been at the tobacco for close to 13 years.

Right time, right place.
And don’t worry about missing out on anything. Who says I’ll be buying her anything?

Nice try.
Deal was with Brenda and her alone. Maybe you should have stayed in Hong Kong to reap the benefits of these offers?
Anyway, shouldn’t you be off exploring some volcano or something?

So, how’s the quitting smoking going? You should not have had one now for a few days – is it working?

It’s okay. Got through my first weekend (i.e. socialising) without smoking. Sometimes I get the urge to smoke a cigarette but I usually just think about other things.
So far so good. Except it has the side-effect of making my hyperactive…
