There’s ICAC poster and also an online banner that has some of the worst copy that I’ve seen in my life. The link to the banner can be found by clicking here. For those of you who aren’t familiar with HK, it stands for the Independant Commission for Against Corruption, and if you can’t get to the link then here’s what the ad says.

{Picture of kid looking worried} Copy – Intimidated, for corruption prevailed.
{Picture of kid looking happy} Copy – Elated, for fairness and justice reign.

What the hell were these people thinking? Which agency had the lack of self-respect to even let that copy get out of the door? Is it some bad translation of some colourful Chinese text? In any case, if that’s the standard of English copywriting in Hong Kong, I think I’ve found a new career. That’s another ad that makes you embarrassed to be associated with the industry and makes me wonder why the hell I’m out of a job.
