Eshin Direct

Right. Well. My absence online has been noted by several people. In fact my absence from life in general has been noted by several people. Well, I’m back.

And why the absence? Well, the reason why I haven’t been blogging is because I haven’t really had a life since the start of CNY. Why you ask? Mr. Hot Socialite. Party Animal Extraordinaire. (Yeah, okay, enough fantasizing).

My addictive behaviour took over pretty much and it didn’t switch itself off until today. It started with a book series that I was reading called The Death Gate Cycle by Margaret Wies and Tracey Hickman. It’s a 7 book epic and at the start of the CNY I foolishly bought the remaining three books in one go. And I read them pretty much in one go too.

Then, in the spirit of fantasy, I got myself sucked into a computer roleplaying game (RPG). I am partial to RPG’s which were sorta a hangover from my childhood. Well, my addictive compulsive behaviour lusts after these distractions and it takes over when it comes to RPG computer games. They are like an interactive book only they can last for much longer. The game in question was Neverwinter Nights, which I’ve had for about 2 years and never really finished. I felt like finishing the stupid game since I’ve had it for so long and thought I was about half-way through. But apparently I wasn’t and I was only about a third of the way through so it just sorta kept sitting there and taunting me.

Some days were a cycle of get up, play, eat, play, shit, play, eat, play, sleep. On occasion, I got myself dragged out – Eyal’s Birthday/Assaf’s leaving dinner, the odd dinner, James’ Promotion/Greg’s “got a job” drinks.

But today I finally managed to finish the damn game. It’s over. Woohoo! I realize it’s a false sense of accomplishment since it’s only a computer game (well, there are whole economies revolving around online multiplayer games, but even so…). And I’m sure to have to go and make some new friends as I’m sure my absence and general hermit like behaviour has done nothing good (hey, I did warn you guys if I disappear…).

So I’m here. Back to reality.

“Hi, my name is Eshin and I’m addicted to crack cocain…sorry, computer games.”

Followed by a heartfelt round of applause and “Hello, Eshin.”
