Well, it looks like I will be leaving Hong Kong. My work permit runs out when my company informs them of my termination. I also have to pay tax before I leave my employment. Two unpleasant surprises in one day although not that much of surprise. My work permit was until September 2004 but now it looks like I’ll have to leave the country and come back in on a tourist visa. If Singapore doesn’t pan out, then I’ll have to do freelance work on a tourist visa basis.

I’m not that eager to do that as it’s uncertaintly every 3 months to come back into the country. I was hoping to use the remaining time to either look for a permenant job or build up the web design business. But I guess I was a little optimistic about the visa thing.

And if Singapore doesn’t pan out, and I’m not going to do freelance work, then I’m fucked royally and will have to go back to the UK. You know the strange thing about Hong Kong is that it’s people are so eager to leave the place, while I’m eager to stay but can’t. Anyone out there want to swap a Dutch passport for a Hong Kong one?
