No in-depth postings as I’m getting ready to back to the UK. I’ll try and see as many people as I can, but obviously, this trip ain’t really for seeing people. Of course, I’ll have to get my shit sorted out. Oh boy this is going to be a short but long trip. Well, hopefully when I get back I’ll get the chance to update several of my websites and make a few more..but then my “active” season starts…
On my list to update is my own personal website (Eshin Direct), my family’s website (VDR Connect), my gaming website (v-Nation), my email service (Sprytemail), my new pet project - FlightAngels.com, and a new political website called SilentResistance.com. So plenty of work to do. But then actvities start amongst which include - airsoft, paintballing, diving and motorcycle riding. Oh boy.

I’m moving my poltical postings to another blog…just for good-orders sake. While some people might be interested in me, they may not be interested in my strong views on American imperialism. Soooo….I’m moving it to http://silentresistance.blogspot.com. Also, my website will contain less political postings and most of my views will be held, with like minded members on www.silentresistance.com.

I heard about but didn’t see it on TV. Old news, but hell, it’s more evidence that the British were there to do a job and the Americans were there to have an extended Sunday afternoon BBQ.
U.S. and British War Speeches Compared
These are the official speeches given to coalition troops before going into combat at the beginning of the Iraq war.
The British speech by Lt.Col Tim Collins:
“If you are ferocious in battle, remember to be magnanimous in victory. We
go to liberate, not to conquer. We are entering Iraq to free a people, and
the only flag that will be flown in that ancient land is their own. Don’t
treat them as refugees, for they are in their own country.
If there are casualties of war, then remember, when they woke up and got
dressed in the morning they did not plan to die this day. Allow them
dignity in death. Bury them properly and mark their graves. You will be
shunned unless your conduct is of the highest, for your deeds will follow
you down history.
Iraq is steeped in history. It is the site of the Garden of Eden, of the
Great Flood and the birth of Abraham. Tread lightly there.”

The US speech by Vice Admiral Timothy Keating:
“When the president says ‘Go’, look out - it’s hammer time!”
This was followed by ‘We Will Rock You’ at deafening volume.
Madonna’s American Life
These song is pissing me off. I’m all for open interpretations but if it’s a criticism of the “American Dream”, it just rubs the American Dream in your face. If its a song supporting the American Life, then it still rubs the Dream and Life in your face. Madonna should stick to changing her image and singing pop songs rather than offer an opinion on a serious subject.
A Little Humour
Okay, this is really funny…I’m sure I’ve seen it in other forms but this I like. Besides, it makes fun of that laughing stock of a president Bush. Hey, Bush, do you know that you are the first president to make stupidity dangerous?????
President Visits
President Bush is visiting a school where a class is discussing words and their meanings. The teacher asks the President if he would like to lead a discussion on the word, “tragedy”. Bush asks if anyone can give him an example of a tragedy, and a boy stands up.
“If my best friend were playing the street and a car ran him over, that would be a tragedy?”
“No,” says Bush, “that would be an accident, son.”
A little girl then raises her hand: “If a school bus carrying 20 children drove off a cliff, killing everyone, that would be a tragedy.”
“I’m afraid not, missy,” explains the President, “that would be a great loss.”
The room goes quiet. Finally, after an embarrassing silence, way at the back of the room a small boy raises his hand.
“If Air Force One, carrying you and Mrs. Bush were struck by a missile and blown to smithereens by a terrorist, that would be a tragedy.”
“Fantastic,” says Bush, “and can you tell me why that would be a tragedy, son?”
“Well,” says the boy, “because it wouldn’t be an accident, and it certainly wouldn’t be a great loss.”

Most people who know me will jump to the wrong conclusion. But I want to get one of the feathered kind - maybe a small budgie or canary, or whatever. Actually, I know nothing about birds (feathered kind) and apparently they live upto 20 years!!!! And just researching the things you have to do makes my head swim…so not sure if I will get one. Maybe I’ll take a trip down to the Bird Market in Mongkok one of these days.

Went to watch Bulletproof Monk on Saturday. It was good entertainment - interesting fight scenes and made me laugh in places. I love Chow Yun Fat and his online persona’s English seems to have improved. Unfortunately, I think he was let down by really poor lines in places and his character seemed to fall into the “wise old man from the east” role. His lines weren’t THAT funny and nor were his co-stars. As I said, amusing but sidesplitting it ain’t. The fight scenes too were good, but there was too much of evidence of post-production tampering and a director who had seen too much of The Matrix to make me buy into the martial arts. At least in Flying Bunnies, Hidden Pussies, while the characters flew around, there was an element of wow, maybe they could actually do that shit. Too much rendering destroys the fantasy.
In fact, the film tries hard to be so many other films that it had no consistency - comedy, martial arts, serious at times with the death of loved one, a romance. In some films, it all works out and you come away feeling that there was something for everyone. If the chemistry doesn’t work out right though, you just end up with a mediocre film. I wonder if the empty cinema hall on a Saturday night was because of the film or SARS.
